Rain disrupted the opening day of the SLC Major Club 3-day Tournament matches across the island, forcing early abandonments at several venues. The standout fixture in rain-shortened play was between CCC and Nugegoda S&WC at the R. Premadasa Stadium, where only 48.5 overs were possible. CCC, after opting to bat first, reached 206-2, powered by unbeaten half-centuries from Dhananjaya de Silva (86) and Sahan Kosala (73), who added an unbroken 155-run stand for the third wicket.

Police SC were trailing Panadura SC by 145 runs when stumps were drawn early due do bad light at Surrey Village in Maggona. Batting first, Panadura SC was bowled out for 196 runs with Sasindu Malshan top scoring 65. Panadura SC lost both their openers for ducks for paceman Himesh Ramanayake, and they were reeling down at 50-5, while one-down batsman Oshada Fernando anchored from one end with a patient knock of 45. Fernando found a partner in top scorer Malshan to form a 47-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

But the recovery was performed by a stand of 69-run stand for the seventh wicket between Malshan and Dushan Hemantha, who went on to score 45 runs to help Panadura SC reach a respectable total. Left-arm spinner Dilum Sudeera picked a five-fer while Ramanayake and off-spinner Nalin Priyadarshana claimed two wickets each.
