CA Sri Lanka’s SAB Campus research team clinches award for sustainability reporting study
View(s):A two-member research team from the SAB Campus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) recently earned top honours at the International Conference on Business and Information (ICBI), organised by the University of Kelaniya, winning the Best Research Paper Award for the Accounting, Finance, and Business Economics Track.
The winning paper by the SAB Campus research team, titled “Revealing the Corporate Contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals through Integrated Reporting: Evidence from South Asian Best Practices”, investigates how leading corporations in South Asia communicate their commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The award recognises outstanding scholarly work that contributes significantly to the field. The winning paper fulfills this mandate by meticulously analysing integrated reports to highlight best practices, thereby offering a crucial framework for enhancing corporate transparency and accountability in sustainability efforts
The research was co-authored by Ms. S.T. Vaishnavi, a fourth-year undergraduate student in the BSc (Hons) Applied Accounting programme, and Mr. R.L.D. Dissanayake, Head of the Department of Accounting & Management at SAB Campus, showcasing the collaborative achievement between a student and a senior academic exemplifying the vibrant, research-orientated learning environment at SAB Campus.
Speaking on the achievement, Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Ms. Lakmali Priyangika said that the accolade underscores SAB Campus’s institutional impact and its dedication to nurturing a culture of inquiry and innovation. “By focusing on real-world issues like the SDGs, the institution ensures its students and faculty are at the forefront of developing solutions that matter, solidifying its reputation as a premier institution for accounting and business education.”

SAB Campus undergraduate Ms. Vaishnavi also represented CA Sri Lanka and SAB Campus at the International Conference of CA Students in Delhi, hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
