Hosting the World Marketing Forum )WMF) for the first time in Sri Lanka is “a testament to the nation’s capabilities, infrastructure, and expertise in the field”, said Prof. Jayantha Dewasiri, President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) last week, announcing the arrival next month of one of the world’s most influential gatherings of marketing professionals to Colombo.

He noted that the event would not only elevate Sri Lanka’s global profile but also inspire the local marketing community to embrace international best practices while showcasing the country’s own creativity, innovation, and success stories.

WMF 2025, endorsed by the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, will take place in Colombo from November 11 to 16 and is expected to draw over 150 international investors, 50 associations, and delegates from more than 50 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania.

Project Chair Asanka Perera described the Forum’s arrival as both a national triumph and a cultural milestone. “Beyond being a professional gathering, the Forum will highlight the flavour of our country it’s rich culture, creativity, and immense potential. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to demonstrate Sri Lanka’s strengths on the global stage,” he said.

The six-day programme features keynote addresses, high-level discussions, and networking sessions designed to advance global collaboration and thought leadership. Day one will open with a keynote by Prof. Philip Kotler, the father of modern marketing, followed by sessions on operational excellence and creative innovation. Subsequent sessions will spotlight Sri Lanka’s brand journeys, marketing transformation, and global insights from industry leaders across continents, culminating in the Asia Marketing Excellence Awards, Asia Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, and SLIM Brand Excellence Awards.

Complementing the conference will be the Asia Industry Expo 2025 at BMICH and the ceremonial ringing of the bell at the Colombo Stock Exchange. SLIM said hosting WMF 2025 underscores the nation’s emergence as a trusted and capable hub for world-class conferences and marketing thought leadership.

By bringing the WMF to Colombo, SLIM aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s global reputation as a centre for innovation, collaboration, and sustainable growth through marketing reaffirming the country’s standing as a valued voice in global marketing dialogues.
