British School in Colombo makes history at All-Island Inter-School Tennis Championship

The British School in Colombo (BSC) etched its name in history by winning the first-ever Under-12 Boys Division III Championship at the SLTA Yeti All Island Inter-School Team Competition 2025 played for the Arjan Perera Memorial Trophy, held at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Colombo.
This year’s championship saw an unprecedented scale of participation, with over 60 schools fielding 254 teams, highlighting the growing depth of young tennis talent across the island. The tournament, played over several days, featured both individual and team events, giving future stars of Sri Lankan tennis a valuable platform to showcase their skills.The BSC Under-12 Boys team, competing in the tournament for the very first time, comprised Avyn Abeywardene (9), Rahel Palisena (9), and Talib Imran (11).
Demonstrating remarkable consistency and skill, Avyn went unbeaten throughout the individual competitions, clinching the Under-12 Division III Individual Championship. In Additional the team’s road to victory was equally impressive, overcoming Royal College in the semi-finals before defeating St. Sebastian’s College in the final to secure the Under 12 Division III Overall Championship in their category.
The BSC Under-12 Girls team also delivered an impressive performance, advancing to the semi-final stage of the competition in their category. This historic win not only marks a proud milestone for the British School in Colombo but also reflects the growing promise of Sri Lanka’s next generation of tennis players.
