Swimmer Muhammed tops Zahira College Colours Ceremony

Zahira College held its Colours Awarding Ceremony for the years of 2022, 2023 and 2024 at the College Ghafoor Hall last weekend. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of the Zahira’s outstanding sportsmen who brought pride and honour to their school through dedication and exceptional performances.

A total of 145 Coloursmen were recognised across 13 sporting disciplines, highlighting the depth and diversity of talent at Zahira College. At the invitation of the Principal of Zahira College, Trizviiy Marikkar, the event was graced by Matthew Abeysinghe OLY, renowned Sri Lankan swimmer and national icon, who attended as the chief guest.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Most Outstanding Sportsman of the Year award to M.F. Muhammed for his exceptional accomplishments in swimming. He was recognised for breaking several national records and representing Sri Lanka on multiple occasions during the year, while continuing his education at Zahira.

The event was organised under the guidance of the Sports Department, led by Zahrul Farook, the former Consultant Prefect of Games on Special Assignment, who ensured the ceremony was a resounding success. Zahira College continues to uphold its proud legacy of sporting excellence, fostering young talent and supporting students in reaching their full potential both on and off the field. Board of Governors Secretary Nuzri Munsoor, Chairman Sports Committee Jawfer Us Sadiq, President Old Boys Association Hazik Jaleel, teachers, students, old boys and parents were also present.
