The indictment papers to file action against Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody on the allegation of corruption over misappropriation of funds are being prepared by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Last week, the Sunday Times exclusively reported that the Commission had decided to file action against the minister regarding alleged misappropriation of funds over a tender while he was serving at the Fertiliser Corporation in 2015.

The action is to be filed in the Colombo High Court against the minister and two others over charges of misappropriation of Rs eight million.

Mr Jayakody had served as the head of the tender board which awarded the particular tender during that period.

The investigations into the particular tender began following complaints over how payments had been made and the bond placed.
