Sithumli, a teen squash talent on the rise
View(s):Sithumli Mendis of Gateway College Colombo delivered an exceptional performance at the SSC Women’s Open Squash Championship 2025, held from July 29 to August 4 at the SSC courts in Colombo. Competing against higher-ranked and more experienced players, Sithumli, 14, secured the third place, becoming the youngest player to reach the podium in this prestigious event.
“It was an amazing experience to compete at this level. I’ve learned so much and I’m excited to keep improving,” said Sithumli with a smile. Her performance stands as a powerful testament to her hard work and natural ability signalling a bright future for this rising star in Sri Lankan squash.
