Sanka Ratnayake was elected as the new President of the Sri Lanka Weightlifting Federation (SLWF) at its Annual General Meeting held at the National Institute of Sports Science last weekend. Ratnayake, an alumni of Dharmaraja College, Kandy, captained the school weightlifting team in 1996 with great distinction. He also served as the Vice President of SLWF during 2023 and 2024, and has earned greater experience as a sports administrator.

Manoj Sanjeewa was elected as the General Secretary, while Pradeep Sanjeewa Hettiarachchi was elected the new Treasurer for the upcoming two-year term.

W.M.R.P.W.L.K Aluvihare and Chinthaka Anurasiri were elected as Vice Presidents under Ratnayake, who pledged to see weightlifting prosper at national and international levels.
