Dinara, Methvan emerge U-18 champs
Dinara de Silva and Methvan Wijemanne came out on top in the finals of the Under-18 Girl’s and Boy’s Singles events and emerged champions of the 111th National Tennis Championships played at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.
The two champions succeeded to clinch the title for the second successive year with Dinara pulling off an easy straight win over Yuhansa Peiris, while Methvan got the better of Ganuka Fernando also in straight sets.

The semi-finals of the Under-12 Singles were also played yesterday at SLTA courts as Samaira Fernando and Sethuli Muthugama reached the Girl’s Singles final, while Revan Amarasinghe booked the Boy’s Singles final berth against Nuren Wevita following easy wins. In the Girl’s Singles semi-finals Samaira and Sethuli won their matches against Taala Silva and Sayuri Muthuthanthri respectively, identically in straight sets. Revan and Nuren recorded straight wins against Kashya Seneviratne and Yonal Dankumbura respectively in the Boy’s Singles semi-finals. Both the finals of Under-12 Boy’s and Girl’s Singles will be played today at the same venue.
