SAB Campus of CA Sri Lanka marks highest-ever student intake for flagship degrees

The SAB Campus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its latest student intakes, welcoming over 400 new students for its flagship degree programmes. The July 2025 intake marks the highest ever intake for the BSc. (Hons) in Applied Accounting and B. Mgt. (Hons) in Business Analytics.
The inauguration ceremony for Intake 19B of the Applied Accounting Degree Programme and Intake 3B of the Business Analytics Degree Programme was on 12th July 2025 at the CA
Sri Lanka Auditorium. The event was graced by Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Tishan Subasinghe, Vice President, and Ms. Lakmali Priyanka, Chief Executive Officer.
In his address, Mr. Kuruppu spoke of the vast career prospects open to graduates of both programmes, noting that “a degree is not merely about academic learning, but it is a gateway to a transformative journey that combines knowledge, skills, and the ability to network. At CA Sri Lanka, we don’t just prepare students for jobs; we prepare them to lead, innovate, and thrive in a competitive global environment.”
Scholarships were also awarded to students who had excelled at the GCE Advanced Level examinations, including those with 3A passes and those with outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities and sports.
The BSc. (Hons) in Applied Accounting is an academic degree designed to provide students with a strong foundation in accounting, financial management, and business operations. Accredited by the University Grants Commission and approved by the Ministry of Education, the programme includes a two-year internship component and opens pathways to pursue professional qualifications such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, and AAT, with exemptions. Graduates are well-equipped for careers as accountants, tax consultants, financial analysts, and many more.
The B. Mgt. (Hons) in Business Analytics programme is tailored to meet the growing demand for professionals who can integrate business acumen with data-driven decision-making. With training in tools such as Excel, R, Python, and Tableau, students gain hands-on experience through internships, practical projects, and case studies. The interdisciplinary curriculum prepares graduates for careers as business analysts, data analysts, marketing analysts, and other roles in the dynamic field of analytics.
The current SAB Campus student population consists of over 1,900 undergraduates, with a total student and graduate community of more than 3,000. The Applied Accounting programme has over 1,600 students currently enrolled, while the Business Analytics programme has seen rapid growth, with over 300 students to date. CA Sri Lanka became the only professional body in the country in 2013 when it offered a recognised academic degree in Applied Accounting simultaneously with its globally recognised professional qualification in Chartered Accounting.
Applications for the current intake at the SAB Campus are still open until the end of July. Students who have completed their A/Ls and are considering a future in accounting or analytics are encouraged to apply.
