The Court of Appeal Judge Rathnapriya Gurusinghe has been recommended to be appointed to the Supreme Court by Chief Justice Murdhu Fernando.

His name has been recommended to President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to fill the vacancy created following the retirement of justice Gamini Amarasekara.

The proposed name is due to be sent to the Constitutional Council for approval. Justice Gurusinghe entered the judicial service in 1996.
