Apeksha Hospital to get new building with specialised care for children
View(s):The foundation laying ceremony for a five storey building for the Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama was held this week with Health Minister Dr.Nalinda Jayatisssa as chief guest. However the cause for concern for many was the presence of children battling cancer who were enlisted to welcome the minister and other invitees. The project is being undertaken with the full supervision and dedicated labour of the Sri Lanka Air Force, while the financial sponsorship is generously provided by the Founder and Chairman of the Indra Traders Group, Indra Kumara Silva.
The proposed building, spanning 50,000 square feet, will house two residential wards with accomodation for 80 patients. In addition, the facility will include a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and a Pediatric Outpatient Chemotherapy Unit, thereby significantly enhancing the hospital’s capacity to provide specialised cancer care for children.
