Thai woman arrived from Doha with cocaine stuffed toys

A Thai national was arrested early Thursday morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with cocaine concealed inside stuffed toys, estimated at a street value of over Rs 516 million rupees.
The 38-year-old woman, who is reportedly self-employed, arrived at the BIA at approximately 2 am aboard Qatar Airways flight QR-662 from Doha. Her suspicious behaviour prompted officers attached to the Customs Narcotics Control Division to carry out a thorough inspection of her baggage at the arrival terminal.
Upon inspection, officials discovered three teddy bears made of fabric and padded with material that appeared to be unusual. A detailed examination revealed that the toys contained 500 cocaine-filled pellets with a total weight of 10.323 kilograms.
Following the detection, the suspect and the narcotics consignment were handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officers at the airport for further investigation.
