Peradeniya Central College emerged champions at the 49th L.V. Jayaweera Inter-School Boxing Meet for schoolboy freshers while Seelarathana Maha Vidyalaya, Dombagoda won the Donald Munasinghe trophy for schoolgirl freshers. The meets were held concurrently at the Dheerananda College, Pilimathalawa Indoor Stadium. It was conducted in a new format by the Schools Boxing Association of Sri Lanka with the competition limited to 13 and 14 age groups in 15 weight classes.

Peradeniya Central regained the L.V. Jayaweera Trophy producing three gold medallists and also the Best Boxer of the meet. Rivinu Herath (37-40kg), Diyunaka Jayarathna (43-46kg) and Akash Sooriyabandara (52-55kg) were the winners for Peradeniya Central with Herath being adjudged the Best Boxer. The team is coached by Dasun Priyanath while the master-in-charge of boxing Samantha Weerasinghe.
Vidyarathana University College, Horana were runners-up clinching two gold and a bronze medal. Seelarathana MV, Dombagoda won three gold, two silver and three bronze medals to win the Donald Munasinghe Trophy while Lankathilaka Maha Vidyalaya were the runners-up team also winning three gold medals.
