Nalanda and Musaeus emerge overall Junior Lifesaving champs
View(s):The Junior National Lifesaving Championship, organised by Sri Lanka Lifesaving, took place over two days. The event began at the Sri Jayewardenepura University Swimming Pool Complex on April 10 and concluded at the Sri Lanka Lifesaving Headquarters in Mount Lavinia.

Musaeus College dominated the Girls’ events, securing three major titles — Under-17 Championship, Under-20 Championship, and the Overall Women’s Championship.
Nalanda College stood tall among the boys, winning the Overall Boys’ Championship.
The event became even more memorable with five new Sri Lanka records. Meedum Mendis of Ananda College clocked 1:06.84 in the 100m Manikin Carry with Fins. Ananda College’s 4x25m Relay Team set another record, finishing the 50m Manikin Carry in 45.58 seconds.
Musaeus College’s Thenushi Kalawitigoda added to the glory with a new record in the 50m Manikin Carry. K.I. Vithulya of River Lifesaving Club was also a star performer, setting two national records — 100m Manikin Tow with Fins and the 200m Super Lifesaver with a time of 3:27.79.

In the Under-20 Girls’ category, Musaeus College led the rankings, followed by Bishop’s College and Lanka Jathika Sarvodaya. Nalanda College took the top spot in the Under-20 Boys’ division, with Ananda College and Galle Aquatic Club following closely behind.
The Under-17 Girls’ category once again saw Musaeus College take gold, ahead of Bishop’s College and Miracle Aquatic Club. In the Under-17 Boys’ category, Nalanda College claimed the title, with Ananda College and Central College Piliyandala securing second and third places.
