CA Sri Lanka records exceptional success in October 2024 on-demand Business Level examinations
View(s):The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), which is recognised as the preferred destination for accounting education in the country, recently recorded exceptional success at the October 2024 Business Level on-demand exam. The Business Level I exam recorded an overall pass rate of 71.47%, while the Business Level II exam recorded an impressive overall pass rate of 72.5%.
Subject-specific performance at the on-demand computer-based October exams has also been remarkable, with pass rates reflecting consistent excellence across the board. Among the highlights are the highest pass rate of 74.03% for Business Environment and Economics, followed by 73.95% for Management Accounting and 73.75% for Audit, Business Processes & Digitalization. Digital Business Strategy recorded a pass rate of 72.97%, while Business Law achieved 71.68% and Financial Accounting subject recorded 71.40%. Both Business Mathematics & Statistics and Business Taxation recorded pass rates exceeding 68%.
These results are in line with the pass rates observed all year long, highlighting the consistently high level of education and strict standards maintained by CA Sri Lanka.
The October examinations were conducted at state-of-the-art computer laboratories in multiple locations across the country, including in Anuradhapura, Colombo, Jaffna, Kandy, Kurunegala, Kalmunai, Matara, and Ratnapura. The exams spanned ten days, from October 18 to October 27, 2024, offering students a choice of three daily time slots to accommodate their schedules.
President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, explained that the introduction of new exam preparation initiatives has had a positive impact on students’ readiness and confidence levels, which helped them in the exams. “We have introduced a range of initiatives, including mock exams, paper discussions, as well as insightful sessions, among other efforts. The effectiveness of these innovative strategies has been demonstrated,” he said.
He emphasised that with true commitment and dedication, students can successfully complete the CA programme and earn the globally recognised Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification, which also enhances their mobility worldwide. “The pass rates from the on-demand exam demonstrate that no exam is too difficult, and with dedication, true success is attainable.”
The on-demand computer-based exam, introduced in 2023, has proven to be a game-changer for many aspiring Chartered Accountants due to the flexibility they offer. These exams allow students to better prepare at their convenience, making the examination process more student-friendly. The primary objective of the on-demand exam is to enable students to fast-track their studies and achieve the prestigious CA qualification. The Business Level is the first stage of the CA Sri Lanka programme, which also includes the Corporate Level and the Strategic Level, the latter being the final stage.
Meanwhile, with the rapidly transforming business landscape and increasingly new challenges, the Institute will also unveil its new curriculum in mid-2025 to ensure chartered accountants and other mid-level accountants produced by the Institute are equipped with contemporary skills and knowledge to remain competitive globally. The new curriculum will address emerging trends including sustainability, digital transformation, and advanced financial in CA Sri Lanka’s vision to develop future-ready Chartered Accountants capable of meeting the demands of dynamic industries while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
