Viran, Kumesh shine on day two
Viran Chamuditha and Kumesh Nuwanjana shone for St. Servatius College and St. Thomas’ College on the second day of the three day 124th Battle of the Blues big match played at the Uyanwatta Stadium. Viran ended with a six wicket haul while Kumesh made an unbeaten 53.
The second day’s play saw St. Thomas’ ending the day on 200 for 9 in reply to the Servatians’ score of 131, after resuming from their overnight score of 54 for 3. This helped them gain a 69-run first innings lead.
On the first day Navija de Saram claimed five wickets to restrict St. Servatius to 131 while top order batter Vishwa Supun top scored with 32. They lost regular wickets conceding five of their top batters to de Saram.
