Vidura College – Colombo – Kalutara branch – gese awards ceremony 2022
View(s):Trinity College London, Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) 2022 awards ceremony was held on 3rd May 2023 at the school premises. The chief guest Mr. D.G. Sumanasekara the Principal of Vidura College and the guest of Honor Ms. Renu Samarasingha national representative for Trinity London in Sri Lanka graced the occasion. GESE Examination results were released on 10th of March 2023 and the excellent results achieved by the students made the school honour and pride.
This internationally acclaimed Examination take the form of a one- to-one, face-to face oral interview covering the language requirement areas categorically identified as Language functions, Grammar, Lexis and Phonology.
131 Students of Vidura College- Colombo- Kalutara branch from grade 1- 5 appeared in the GESE exam, which is going along with the Common European Framework of Reference.
Grade 1-3 Initial stage, equivalent to CEFR A1-A2.1 Grade 4 -6 Elementary stage, equivalent to CEFR A2.2 – B1.2. The participants of Initial stage received 78 Distinctions, 19 Merits and 3 passes while the participants of Elementary stage received 29 Distinctions and 2 merits. The most outstanding result is that all 16 participants in level 5 accomplished with 16 Distinctions.
The manifold guidance and immense support behind this success was given by Mr. D.G. Sumanasekera the Managing Director/Principal of Vidura College, Mr. Sarada Sumanasekara Consultatnt and Director, Course co-ordinator Ms. Dineka Cabraal and the branch Vice Principal Ms. Nirmala Liyanage.
Especially ,two committed teachers Ms. Radanika Wijerathne and Ms. Gayathri Perera well trained the students and equipped them with the requisite knowledge.
