National Nursing University to be set up
View(s):The Cabinet approved a proposal to set up a National Nursing University, Cabinet Spokesperson and Mass Media Minister, Bandula Gunawardena said this week.
He said the Cabinet of Ministers approved the combined resolution made by Transport and Highways Minister Keheliya Rambukwella – as the acting Education Minister and Health Minister – to grant policy approval to establish the Sri Lanka National Nursing University, taking into account the recommendations furnished by the said committee of officers, and to formulate the relevant draft bill.
This decision was taken initially at the Cabinet meeting held on March 1 to appoint a committee of officers to submit a report to the Cabinet after studying the proposal to convert the Nursing School (governed by the Ministry of Health at present) into a university.
