Lyceum International School Nugegoda Emerges Champions of the All-Island Interschool Chemistry Quiz Competition 2023
View(s):The 35th All-Island Interschool Chemistry Quiz Competition was successfully hosted by the
Institute of Chemistry Ceylon. The event brought together some of the brightest and most knowledgeable young minds in the field of chemistry, all vying for the chance to be crowned champions of the Quiz competition.
The competition was attended by an esteemed audience, including the acting Dean of College of Chemical Sciences, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon, Prof. Namal Priyantha, who addressed the attendees. The event Chairperson, Dr. Kushan Weerasiri, then explained the rules and regulations of the competition to the teams.

The preliminary round winners, consisting of Lyceum International School Nugegoda,
Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya Kurunegala, Taxila Central College Horana, Zahira College
Mawanella, St.Anne College Kurunegala, and Harishandra College Negombo, competed against each other in a process of elimination to determine the finalists.
Lyceum International School Nugegoda and Taxila Central College emerged as the finalists, engaging in a final round filled with anticipation and excitement as they demonstrated their impressive knowledge of chemistry. Ultimately, Lyceum International School Nugegoda was declared
the champion of the
quiz competition.
The competition serves as a reminder of the importance of fostering and recognising excellence in the field of chemistry, particularly at the young and budding stage. We congratulate all the teams who participated and commend the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon for hosting yet another successful event.
