Botanical garden draws visitors

With tourist arrivals on the increase, some of locations have been drawing visitors in large numbers in recent weeks.
The overall revenue figures too have been increasing with tourism earnings surging to US$ 162 million in January 2023 – an increase of 28 per cent from December 2022.
The Peradeniya Botanical Gardens has been among the attractions for foreign tourists.
Officials there said during the recent weeks they have been drawing between 750-1,000 foreign tourists which has been an improvement. The best figures of foreign tourists is between 1,000 to 1,500.
Most tourists spent several hours in the Gardens with some of them opting to take the electrical car so that they could visit more areas in the garden spread out over 147 acres.
