D.S. Senanayake College scored their second successive win in the Inter Schools under 13 Division I cricket fixture when they defeated Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte by 119 runs at the D.S. Senanayake grounds on Wednesday.

Earlier they beat President’s College, Rajagiriya by 24 runs in a match played at Rajagiriya.

Batting first DSS scored 212 for the loss of nine wickets with main contributors being skipper Teron Baskaran (53 with five fours), Danushka Ellawala (43) and Kalindu Ransika (31). A. Azeem was the most successful bowler for Sasthralaya to capture 4 wickets for 42.

Ananda Sasthralaya chasing a tall score of 212 never looked comfortable against the tight bowling attack of DSS headed by leg-spinner Lahiru Samaranayake capturing 3 for 27 while Maneendra Jayatilleke 3 for 27 and Luke Perera with 2 for 8 lending good support to the leg-spinner to dismiss Ananda Sasthralaya for 93.

DSS batting for the second time made a quick fire 110 for 3 in just 11 overs with Amjad Lye making a lusty half century in 27 balls.

In the earlier match played at the President’s College Grounds DSS scored a close win over President’s College by 24 runs. Again it was the pace-spin combination troubled the President’s College batsmen and were dismissed for 118. Maneendra Jayatilleke 4/24, Kalana Jayawardene 2/12 and Lahiru Samaranayake 1/28 were the main wreckers. Dinith Nelundeniya and Thasika Dharmapriya were the only batsmen showed some confidence to score 40 and 20 respectively.

Batting second DSS too didn’t find things easy and were dismissed for 142. Lahiru Samaranayake this time with the bat scored a patient 40 with four hits to the ropes helped his side to pass the opponent’s total involving in two fruitful partnerships of 40 runs with Kulindu Ransika (11) and Anjan Lye who scored 23. Jehan Noor and D. Abeygunasekera bowled best to capture 2/27 and 3/38.
