NO TO SINHALA

He is Sri Lankan to the hilt. What is more his name implies it too. During a recent visit to his motherland (he is based overseas mostly now) ; he has told the press that he cannot give interviews in Sinhala but only in the Queen’s Language. Shocked journalists gaped at him. He however went on the say that ‘Voice Cuts’ could be taken and could be dubbed into Sinhala. Newsmen are now wondering whether he was saying the truth or whether he was conning. He was also a top sportsman at one time and even captained his alma mater. Can such a person forget his mother tongue so soon?

THE WEAK INDIVIDUAL

The Top man in Sports has kicked out an employee from his section, for not doing his work. In this case the man concerned has been transferred to another department. It has been brought to light that the man concerned had not done a stroke of work for the past year or so and the Boss finally decided to get rid of him. The reason for his transfer is because he is a WEAK individual.

MAKING A COMEBACK

A one time top official in a popular sport is now attempting to make a comeback. It is said that this man who held several international positions in his particular sport and who also happens to be a legal eagle has even volunteered to give legal advice to the brother of the Top Man in Sports, who is supposed to contest in a key up-and-coming polls due to be held in about two months time.

TRYING TO PROVE A POINT

Determined to show off that he is a good shuttle player this individual took part in a Veteran’s Tournament in the outstations and was convincingly beaten in the process. This he did to convince others that he is good at the sport where he is the head. What happened was a colossal disaster. He lost very badly and now he is wondering how he can show his face to people in this field.

TORRINGTON SQUARE TREATMENT

Then there is this story about a top athlete of yesteryear making a trip to the official medic to attend a painful back injury. The medic in charge of the unit had told his blankly that he does not know him and he cannot be treated at the medical centre. This athlete has won over 30 medals for the country and is well known in this field. This disgruntled athlete has now said that he will get a physician to treat him at the Torrington Square where everybody can see him being treated instead of going to the quack who has said ‘NO’ to him!
