Global enterprise application developer SAP has launched a cloud-based business-to-business (B2B) collaboration solution in Sri Lanka, according to media statement issued by its local unit. Further, SAP already counts local conglomerates Hemas Holdings and Ceylon Breweries as users.

Tapping into open global trading network Ariba, a recently acquired subsidiary of SAP, this new range of B2B collaborations solutions utilises Ariba’s international business commerce network to make sourcing for business purposes more efficient.
Quoted in the media statement, Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Head of SME Sales for SAP India, stated; “Sourcing is no longer limited to the boundaries of local markets. This has made it necessary for businesses to gain better insights about their suppliers and the entire sourcing process to make sound decisions. Our new offerings leverage Ariba’s open global trading network and SAP’s solutions and analytics to provide our clients with this information and thereby help increase efficiencies. The early success that we have seen in Sri Lanka is very promising and we look forward to seeing more clients benefit from this model”.

Additionally, also quoted, Priyanthi De Silva, Financial Controller for Hemas Holdings PLC, said; “Hemas is the first company in corporate Sri Lanka to foray into the world of online sourcing… Hemas Group was able to save upwards of Rs. 25 million or seven per cent savings in a limited period of time. Apart from cost savings, other intangible benefits we could achieve; Greater visibility of buying habits embedded with commodity and sourcing intelligence; Complete, accurate, and continually up-to-date spend records help in compliance initiatives with both internal and external parties; Uniformity of formats and classifications assisted by applying industry and company-specific standards that support global supplier and supply market intelligence; Company-wide spend data was consolidated into one reporting system for easy access, analysis, and decision making; Providing critical details about supplier financial ratings, risk scores, capacity and constraints with warning indicators prompting immediate action”.
