Pfeiffer goes to Jaffna

Red Bull’s champion stunt rider Chris Pfeiffer, who mesmerised the Sri Lanka racing fans on his initial tour in 2009, will return to the island to give the local fans yet another experience of thrills. Pfeiffer will display his acrobatic performances on his monster BMW F800R in Jaffna and Colombo.

The champion rider will perform opposite the Duraiappa Stadium in Jaffna at 3.00pm on March 1, Thursday. He will also perform a double in Colombo on March 3 Saturday, first at 3.00pm at Greenpath and again at 5.00pm opposite World Trade Centre in Colombo Fort.

This will be the first occasion that motor sports fans from Jaffna will get a glimpse to experience the world renowned performer display his expertise on the two-wheeler. The upcoming street tour will be the first of its kind to take place in the northern capital to happen in over three decades.

Pfeiffer became a legend in the world of stunt bike riding after he took up riding motorbikes in the mid 1990s. In the 2004 ‘Stuntwars’ contest held in Florida he pulled off a 115-degree wheelie - a massive 50-degrees more than what was ever thought possible on a bike. That super-human feat not only enabled him to win the competition, but also landed him a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Pfeiffer also has four European and four World Championship titles to his name. He is the only rider in history to have scaled the level three climb at Via Tina in Arco, Italy, on his bike. - NA
