Dhanushka Dharmasiri puts Kurunegala YCC on top

Right hand opening batsman Dhanushka Dharmasiri slammed 123 inclusive of 16 boundaries and three sixes to put Kurunegala YCC on top on day one in their Under 23 Division Two cricket encounter against Old Cambrians played at the Welagedera Stadium in Kurunegala.

Dhanushka was supported by a knock of 52 by Chamikara Edirisinghe which helped Kurunegala YCC make a formidable score of 316 for 9 declared. Old Cambrians in their turn were badly placed on 54 for 4.

Right arm spinner Roshan Jayatissa captured six wickets enabling Army bundle out Navy for a low score of 108 in the match played at Welisara. In reply Army ended the day making 152 for 8 and they have already obtained a first inning lead.

At Peradeniya exchanges were even in the match between Kandy YCC and Singha SC Ambalangoda. Kandy YCC taking first lease of the wicket made a modest 204 with Singha SC ending the day on 122 for 5.

In a rain delayed match between Old Moratu SC and Police played at Moratuwa the former taking first lease of the wicket made 218 while Police facing 12 overs made 19 for no loss.

Negombo CC took advantage over Kalutara TC at the end of the first days play in their match played at Kadirana. Negombo CC after bowling out their opponents for a low score of 98 finished the day on 119 for 5.

Spinners Sonal Dulshan and Tharindu Rukshan shared eight wickets between them to bundle out Seeduwa/Raddoluwa CC for 98 in the match played at the BRC ground.

Only 15 overs of play was possible in the match between Old Anandians and Saracens SC at Ananda Mawatha with the latter facing 15 overs making 52 for 1.
