ACCA launches new fleet of qualifications for students awaiting G. C. E. A/L exam results

Here's encouraging news from The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) - Sri Lanka to students still awaiting their G. C. E. A/L examination results.

They no longer need to wait until the results are released to embark on a productive career in accountancy as the ACCA has now launched a new suite of qualifications based on a multiple entry and exit route. This effectively means students with pending A/L results can enrol for a foundation accountancy programme and progressively work towards a suite of qualifications through a revolutionized process of flexible entry rules and open access to education.

There are many awards given to students' entry route - certificates, diplomas, advance diplomas, degrees and finally the ACCA professional qualification, says Mrs. Nilusha Ranasinghe, Business Relationship Manager, ACCA - Sri Lanka "A student who seeks enrolment to ACCA can do a self-check module, which is optional, and then get placed at certificate or diploma level or go straight for an ACCA professional qualification", she explained.

Anybody who walks in without doing a self-check module can begin at certificate or diploma level and move towards the ACCA professional qualification, Mrs. Ranasinghe noted. She said students can register at any time and move on from that point. "It's an open access, flexible process where students can reap the benefits on the way". On the duration to move forward at diploma and certificate level and complete the ACCA professional qualification, she replied, "Maximum three years".

"What is most striking about this process is that students can collect multiple qualifications as they proceed from one stage to the other", Mrs. Ranasinghe said. The multiple entry and exit route offers the option to students to move out on reaching the desired stage, she pointed out. "For example, a person who wants to become an account assistant or a junior accounts clerk can start a career on securing the required qualification. ACCA, the global body for professional accountants, aims to offer business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a rewarding career in accountancy, finance and management.

ACCA supports 147,000 members and 424,000 students throughout their careers, providing services through a network of 83 offices and active centres. Its global infrastructure means that exams and support are delivered - and reputation and influence developed - at a local level, directly benefiting stakeholders wherever they are based, or plan to move to, in pursuit of new career opportunities.
