Giving life in their moment of grief

It is a message of sharing, caring and sacrifice. It is also a message of hope for those in despair. As thousands of Christians across the country await with joy the celebration of the birth of a little baby boy in a lowly manger in Bethlehem 2,010 years ago, there was a different kind of hope for Sri Lankans emanating from a small group of people who were all smiles mixed with tears last Thursday.

 

Love is the essence of Christmas

His family are unable to come with him, but they are willing to spare him at this special time of year because it will give me joy. The spirit of Christmas prompts people to do loving things for others. It’s that season of loving and giving – not just to those we love, our families and friends, but for reaching out to those who have nothing to celebrate, because of their sad - and sometimes desperate,- circumstances.
