Victoria and her throne

A majestic tale of romance, intrigue and power ‘The Young Victoria’ will be screened at 6 p.m. on October 26 at the American Center, Galle Road, Colombo 3. Set in the Victorian era, the film shows how the England’s longest-reigning monarch resolved to establish her authority over those who ruled in her stead, a young and inexperienced Queen Victoria (Emily Blunt) draws strength from the love of Albert (Rupert Friend), the handsome prince who’s stolen her heart. Directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, this 2009 film is based on the accession to the throne and early reign of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, and her marriage to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
