Melheim Resort, Creates new destination

Beragala, though not a traditional tourist destination, the potential has emerged as an attraction to the visitors, since April this year. This is mainly due to the birth of ‘Melheim Resort’ at the Lower Blackwood in Beragala. The ‘Melheim Resort’ is a heavenly cosset located in Beragala in Haputale, just four hours drive from Colombo.

The Resort is nestled in a five acre land in the ever changing climatic conditions, overlooking the Southern Plains from the top of the Haputale range. The Resort is about the best that one could experience in Haputale area. Seclusion, space and privacy, the Resort offers the ideal choice for the visitor when in Beragala.

Melheim Resort has tastefully designed nine rooms with its own private deck opening out to a scenic view of the mountains and beyond.‘It has opened the area to more exploration and attracts more travellers to once isolated Blackwood jungles. The Resort takes pride in the gourmet food, prepared by the hotel’s experienced cook and well loved by the guests who come from Colombo. ‘Culinary experience at the hotel is too a journey’ he said.

‘Actually food is one of our main driving forces. Many comment about our cuisine. From simple village meal to star class dining experiences is on the menu’ said Harin.

Melheim is the ideal base to visit many adventurous, nature and historical sites such as centuries old Soragune devale, Buduruwagal, popular Lipton Seat (off the beaten track), Bambarakande, Diyaluma and Rawana Water Falls, Tholangamuwa Forest Reserve, Adisham and Uda Walawe Park.

‘We arrange excursions for all adventure lovers on request. Most of these attractions are adventurous than some known places’ he added.Arugam Bay, Yala and Kataragama are three hours away. Magnificent and brooding in the vicinity are the Horton Plains and World’s End.

The Resort is a honeymooner’s paradise too. ‘We offer them various extras and surprises; Free offers on different themes are available for honeymooners’ he said. Apart from that Melheim attracts corporate functions and company get-togethers.
