HNB ‘B’ by 56 runs

HNB "B" led by Veteran, Duminda Wickremasinghe scored a comprehensive 56-runs win over John Keells group "C" in the MCA "G" division 30-overs League tournament Final Concluded at the MCA Grounds yesterday.

HNB "B" who won the toss and chose to bat, got off to a disastrous start losing 04 wickets for 17, All to Paceman, Asanka Vitharana, (4 for 20 in 06 overs on the trot). Veteran, Waruna Waragoda (30) did a minor repair to the total, but the blood transfusion Came Via skipper Duminda Wickremasinghe (64 in 57 calls, inclusive of 04 sixes and 04 fours) and Sajeeva Silva (32 in 25 balls with 04 sixes), who put on a match winning 98-runs in 62 balls for the 07 wicket, which propelled HNB "B" to 190 for 8 in 30-overs.

J. Keells was never in the hunt, despite a sold 69-runs partnership in 75 balls between opener, Shivanga Ranasuriya (55 in 55 balls, 06 fours) and Mohan Wijesuriya (40 in 52 balls, 03 fours & a six) Meekly surrendering soon after for 134 in 29.2 overs.

Spinner, Chrisantha Peiris was the tormentor bagging 4 for 20 in 06 overs. HNB "B" 190 for 8 in 30-overs (R. Jaymon 15, W. Waragoda 30, U. Fernando 15, D. Wickremasinghe 64, S. Silva 32, A. Vitharana 4/20)
