January 13, 2010 was a historic day for Zahira College Colombo as Old Boys, well wishers and friends gathered at their premises in Maradana to cut the first sod for a long awaited project - a swimming pool.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Fowzy Cader, ambassador to the Republic of Egypt. He along with others stood in line to cut the first sod. The Chairman of the Zahira Board of Governors of Zahira Fawzul Hameed said that it was a momentous occasion for the school.

A note to this effect was handed over to isthy Fawmy, Chairman Swimming Pool Committee by Anura de Silva Deputy CEO of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka.
