School re-opening requires clearance says CP Governor

By L.B.Senaratne

Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa has requested the health authorities to give a clearance certificate, if they could, to Education Minister Susil Premajayantha for re-opening schools in the Kandy District,

But, there is no indication that the schools would be re-opened before January when the new term begins.

On Friday evening there was a discussion at the Governor's office with Minister Susil Premajayantha and the Chief Minister at which the closure of the schools was discussed among other matters.

Governor Kobbekaduwa said that if a clearance certificate from the health authorities was given to the Education Minister and the Minister in turn sends a letter to him, he would advice the Chief Minister to order the re-opening of the schools.
