Finlays Tea Estates annual awards ceremony

Finlays Tea Estates held their annual awards ceremony recently at Water’s Edge amidst a large gathering including the Board of Directors and special invitees including managers who retired from the companies since 1992.

At the awards ceremony

Finlays Tea Estates consists of two public listed companies, Hapugastenne Plantations PLC and Udapussellawa Plantations PLC. Between them, Finlays operates 26 estates and 20 tea factories. “Today we have a business which is resilient to many challenges, a business that is sustainable due to its diversity and a business that has a young team of very enthusiastic senior and junior managers who embrace constructive change seeking new paths of success and staying focused on our vision.

Last year was a tough one for all of us in the tea and rubber business and I am happy to note that we at Finlays Tea Estates still managed to have positive results with the strong leadership qualities that all our managers gathered here have exhibited during these difficult times,” said Chairman, Finlays, Naresh Ratwatte, speaking at the awards ceremony.

Concordia Estate in the Nuwara Eliya district won the award for the overall best Strategic Business Unit of Finlays Tea Estates, whilst Duckwari, Hapugastenne, Hopton, Adawatte and Courtlodge estates were recognised with multiple awards for their achievements.
