Reversing vehicle kills veteran teacher

A teacher of Bishop’s College in Kollupitiya was killed last Monday when she was hit by a vehicle that was reversing, eye witnesses told The Sunday Times.

According to eye witnesses, the teacher, who had left school at about 11 a.m. for lunch had been walking along the edge of the road when the vehicle hit her.

She was dragged underneath the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. She later succumbed to her injuries.

She was the matron of the school hostel and had been serving the school for over 50 years. The Kollupitiya police declined to comment on the incident.
