Double murder suspects arrested after 31 years; search on for woman
View(s):Two suspects wanted in connection with a double murder committed 31 years ago have been arrested after police received new information.
The victims were a father and son from the Moratuwa area.
One of the suspects, a soldier, is alleged to have killed a man in 1991 after marrying the victim’s second wife and a week later killed his son from the first marriage and dumped the body in a marsh in Bolgoda, according to case records.
The soldier had married the woman while the husband was overseas and the murder had taken place soon after he returned.
However, on a recent tip-off the Police had arrested the soldier while a search is on for the wife. A third suspect involved in the murder too, has been arrested.
