This week, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, along with Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, discussed with Teacher trade unions to resolve the four month long trade union action by teachers. As promised at the discussion a pledge to allocate to Rs. 30 billion to pay the arrears was made by the Finance Minister during the Budget speech on Friday.
