CA Sri Lanka’s annual budget seminar to focus on impacts of budget proposals on the economy

The highly awaited annual budget seminar, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will be held on Monday, 15th November 2021 featuring top government officials and business leaders, who will share their insights and observations on the government’s budget for next year.

Due to the ongoing COVID related health guidelines, the seminar will be held on a virtual platform, but will feature top speakers including Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka who will deliver the keynote on “Impact of the Budget proposals on the economy” while Mr. S. R Attygalle, Secretary to the Treasury will address the participants on “Implementation of the Budget proposals.”

The seminar, which will be offered via Zoom and on the official Facebook Page of CA Sri Lanka, will also bring together an exciting line-up of panelists hailing from a cross section of industries who will share their thoughts on next year’s budget. The panelists will include Mr. Manil Jayesinghe, President, CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Hasitha Premarathne, Group Financial Director, Brandix Group, Mr. Mushin Kitchilan, Director, Hemas Maritime Cluster, Mr. Prasanna Hettiarachchi, Managing Director, Saaraketha Holdings and Mr. Susith Jayawickrama, Managing Director, Aitken Spence Hotels.

Mr. Sulaiman Nishtar, Chairman, Faculty of Taxation of CA Sri Lanka, will moderate the session, while Ms. Sarah Afker, Partner – Tax Services, BDO Partners, will present the budget highlights.

The CA Sri Lanka budget webinar will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the national budget while also evaluating the economic and tax components arising from the government’s budget for 2022.

The online event is open to members of the public as well as Chartered Accountants, other professionals from accounting and non-accounting streams, and students.
