ICT60615 – Advanced Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering (CRICOS Course Code: 102973J) offered at ATCWA will prepare students to meet the growing industry needs of today and tomorrow. This qualification reflects the role of a technical specialist with high level skills and knowledge in telecommunications and information technology networks using internet protocol (IP) systems that can:

  • Forecast network growth for enterprise network planning
  • Design and manage IP based network telecommunications equipment
  • Implement convergence technologies in enterprise telecommunications networks
  • Design and manage optical and wireless network telecommunications architectures for high speed broadband capability.

Licensing /Regulatory Information – work functions in the occupational areas where this unit may be used are subject to regulatory requirements. Course Admission Requirements – completion of high school studies equivalent to Australian Year 12 schooling OR completion of secondary school/ A level education overseas. Applicants must be minimum 18 years of age.

English Language Requirements for international students – where the Department of Home Affairs (www.homeaffairs.gov.au) require evidence of English language proficiency for the student visa application process, will be required to provide proof of English language proficiency.

IELTS Test Score of 5.5 OR TOEFL (iBT) Test Score of 46 OR PTE Academic Test Score of 42.

Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)

ATCWA will ensure all students have met the course entry requirements of their enrolled course. As part of enrolment process, all students are required to sit for a LLN test to ensure the student has sufficient LLN capabilities to complete the course. Students with LLN difficulties will be provided additional learning support by an appropriate staff member at ATCWA. The LLN support will be based on the students’ individual special needs and availability. ATCWA will provide the required assistance to all students as per its registration requirements.

This support will include: (a) identifying particular requirements (such as literacy, numeracy, English language or physical capabilities) learners would need to complete each course, and developing strategies to make support available where gaps are identified. This may include providing: Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) support and/or additional tutorials; and (b) other mechanisms, such as assistance in using computing technology for completion of assessments.

Assessments – ATCWA adopts a number of assessment tools. All students should demonstrate competency through each of the assessment tools. In general, the following assessment methods apply for this course: Projects, Role plays,
Tests and Assignments, Portfolios,
Case Studies, Simulated Workplace, Reports etc.

Simulated Environment – ATCWA’s learning programme includes Simulation which involves the
student completing or dealing with a task, activity or problem that they might encounter in the workplace in their chosen field of study but it is being replicated in an environment that mimics the workplace context. Both the practice and assessment
tasks create an environment that requires the student to use both generic skills (decision making/problem solving) and technical skills relevant to each unit.

Award Requirements – to be awarded the ICT60615 – Advanced Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering (CRICOS Course Code: 102973J) students must successfully complete all units. Where learners complete individual units of competency but not the entire qualification, they will receive a Statement of Attainment for any unit(s) that is successfully completed.

Study Pathway and Career Opportunities – on completion of the ICT60615 – Advanced Diploma of Telecommunications Network Engineering (CRICOS Course Code: 102973J), potential employment options are in telecommunications and information technology networks roles. Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into higher education qualifications in telecommunications and information technology networks and ATCWA has pathways in place with Murdoch University and Edith Cowan University to continue further studies and complete their bachelor degrees.
