In September 2020, HCL Technologies set up its global delivery centre in Sri Lanka with the aim of creating more than 3,000 jobs in the country over the duration of three to five years. To date, HCL has employed over 500 skilled individuals in Sri Lanka despite the pandemic challenges.

In FY21 which ended on 31st March 2021, the company won 19 new large deals across multiple industries, including Financial Services, Life Sciences and Healthcare as well as, consumer goods and manufacturing. HCL’s revenue stood at US$ 10,175 Mn delivering annual growth at 1.1 % during FY21.

TechBee Early Career Programme

In March, the company launched an early career programme for students who completed their A Level examinations called TechBee, which provides students with the opportunity to begin their career in IT right after A Levels. The program equips selected candidates with future-ready IT skills, which otherwise are performed by IT graduates.

The TechBee programme redefines one’s career path by providing an early start. Instead of waiting to start a professional career after graduation, HCL TechBee students can begin their career in ITwith HCL within a year on enrolling for the program, while actively pursuing their higher education,studying for a BSc (Hons)/ BIT degree from the University of Moratuwa, University of Colombo or with Horizon Campus.

HCL believes that the path to financial independence should start young, which is why those who participate in HCL’sTechBee programme will receive a monthly allowance and on completion of the programme will get assured employment with a starting salary that is on par with industry standards.

Prioritizing Sustainability

Sustainability is a priority for HCL which is why it’s implemented into the strategy, culture, and day-to-day operations of the company.

2. Redefine Workplaces: HCL held 19 major global events on International Women’s Day to strengthen its commitment to womens’ empowerment and to celebrate the contributions of women in the organization.

3. Give Back to Society: In South Africa, HCL is partnering with not-for-profit Safe-Hub on a major campaign to provide digital labs for at-risk teens to help them develop computer skills.

4. Renewing Ecosystems: At HCL, new data-centres use low-powered blade servers and more energy-efficient uninterruptible power supplies which can use 70% less power than a legacy UPS.
