Shakespeare Centre calls for Applications for Graduate Programme
View(s):Shakespeare Centre is calling for application for its Graduate Programme scheduled for two years on a weekend – basis, commencing in 2019. Shakespeare Centre, Sri Lanka, consequent upon the successful completion of a series of ten courses on Shakespeare Theatre Art, crossing the boundary of two years, has been able to produce disciplined and professionally skilled artistes to country’s theatre and cinema.
This Graduate Programme comprises two courses; of those Shakespeare Studies is followed in the English medium, and Performance Arts is followed in both English and Sinhala according to Secretary, Education of Shakespeare Centre, Visharada, Dawshala Lekamwasam.
The final stage of the two courses will see the production of Shakespeare’s ever popular plays like ‘Othello’ ( Sinhala and English), Macbeth (Opera Style in Sinhala and English) Hamlet (Sinhala) Julius Caesar (Sinhala) and ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ (English Ballet drama).
“This Graduate Programme is useful not only to the students, but also for the teachers who are interested in pursuing theatre and drama,” says Secretary- Development of Shakespeare Centre Nishantha Bambaranda.
The registered students can take part in the film “Hamlet” (Sinhala) planned to be produced by the Shakespeare Centre.
