Ariana Grande is now five weeks at the top of the UK singles chart with her song ‘thank U, next’. The song set a streaming record in the UK for 14.9 million in the seven days leading up to the countdown. This was largely due to the release of the video for the song which had 7.9 million views.

Dalton Harris scores highest entry on UK chart

The X-Factor winner for 2018 Dalton Harris has scored the highest new entry on the UK chart for the week as his release ‘The Power Of Love’ charted at No: 4. The 24 year old Jamaican is supported on the track by James Arthur.

Harris came over to the UK to audition for the reality show. Immediately after he was declared winner he took to the stage with James Arthur to perform his new single, a cover version of the Frankie Goes To Hollywood chart topper of 1984. The single by Harris was released on 3rd December and within five days had debuted on the chart. This is the first of two chart entries for James Arthur this week. Elsewhere at No: 8 Arthur secured his second top 10 chart hit of the week, teaming up with Anne-Marie on ‘Rewrite The Stars’. The track is a reworking of the song recorded by Zac Efron and Zendaya Coleman for the music movie soundtrack ‘The Greatest Showman’. The Arthur & Anne-Marie rendition has more pop appeal coupled with a strong orchestral backing as it moved from 17 to No: 8.

Mariah Carey leads Christmas song surge with ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’

Mariah Carey is leading the song surge for Christmas with her classic ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. Her song zoomed from 34 to No: 6 on the top 10 UK singles chart. In September the song was certified triple platinum by the BPI as it has sold over 1.8 copies in the UK.

It is the third occasion Carey’s Seasonal hit has been on the top 10. It first peaked at No: 2 in 1994, the year song was released. Last year ‘All I Want For Christmas’ peaked at the No: 2 for a second time.

Justin Timberlake facing vocal chord issues

Justin Timberlake, one of the most-best dressed and respected pop stars has been having a throat issue recently.

The 37 year old has been compelled to postpone the remaining dates of his 2018 – Man In The Woods tour.

Timberlake first experienced a vocal issue in October according to reports forcing the postponement of a concert in New York. Reports suggest his vocal chords are bruised.

He tried to resume his tour, but then his voice continued to give trouble leading the singer to pull out of concerts at eight venues. Timberlake hopes to resume his tour after a recovery on 4th January 2019 in Washington D.C.

 

Katy Perry featured in a video game

Katy Perry has marked her way into a new video game by releasing a one off single titled ‘Immortal Flame’ on 12th December. Her virtual likeness appears on the mobile video game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. The single ‘Immortal Flame’ is her second standalone release in weeks following ‘Cozy Little Christmas’ for Amazon Music.

Mark Ronson teams up with Miley Cyrus for latest track

Mark Ronson is back with a new song ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ featuring Miley Cyrus. The song debuted on the UK singles chart at No: 10.

It’s Ronson’s first hit since ‘Uptown Funk’ featuring Bruno Mars topped the chart in 2014.
