The New Colombo Plan Mobility Grants will support 13,000 undergraduates from 40 Australian Universities to live, study and complete internships in 35 countries across the Indo-Pacific region, a statement said.

In a joint media statement issued by the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education & Training stated that, 226 students from about 13 Australian Universities, will head to Sri Lanka in 2018, taking part in 15 different projects ranging from Business Studies, Wildlife, Urban Planning, and Medicine.

According to a summary report issued this year, only 100 students took part in the programme from 7 Australian Universities.
The number of registered students has witnessed an increase from 7,400 students in 2017, to more than 30,000 students over 5 years. The programme has also extended to new locations such as Nauru, New Caledonia and Tuvalu in 2018.
