A honeymooning couple’s hearts go out to injured stray

At a time where a recent act of blatant cruelty to stray dogs shocked many animal lovers in the country, a couple from the Netherlands who were on their honeymoon in Tissamaharama, took care of this injured canine by taking it to the veterinary surgeon in the area for treatment. The couple had seen the animal with a badly injured front paw, howling in pain while they were in the Tissamaharama town.

They informed their tour guide Lucky Lokubalasuriya of their decision and with his assistance took the animal to the Government Veterinary Surgeon’s Office at Kataragama.

The doctors performed an operation animal and it is now on the road to recovery. The couple paid for its care and also bought it nourishing food
The couple -Michael and Jacqueline- said they were distressed at the sight of the animal in pain and were delighted to have been able to assist the animal Rukman Ratnayaka
