Yoko Ono the widow of John Lennon has been added on as co- writer of the classic ‘Imagine’. The announcement was made by David Israelite, the president of the National Music Publishers Association in the US to mark the occasion when ‘Imagine’ was named Centennial Song Award. ‘Imagine’ was written 48 years ago and only credited to Lennon.

Reports indicate music mogul and talent scout Simon Cowell is to release a charity single in aid of the victims of London’s Grenfell Tower fire.

Cowell has selected Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’, having reviewed the lyrics according to reports. Artists such as Liam Payne, Emeli Sande, Stormzy, Craig David, James Arthur, Lily Allen, Skepta, Louisa Johnson and the Who have laid down their vocals for the project.

Rihanna is back taking lead vocal spot on DJ Khaled’s new single ‘Wild Thoughts’ which was released on 16th June. The R&B track samples the guitar riffs from the 1999 Santana hit ‘Maria Maria. ‘Wild Thoughts’ is taken from Khaled’s album ‘Grateful’. He scored a huge No: 1 with ‘I’m The One’ featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo and Chance The Rapper.

Several artists from the world of pop and rock were named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list last weekend. Sir Paul McCartney was made a member of the Companion of Honour (CH). Emeli Sande and Ed Sheeran were both made MBE’s. Also Sandi Shaw a veteran who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1967 for ‘Puppet On A String’ was made an MBE.

It’s a sixth week for Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee with Justin Bieber as ‘Despacito’ reigns the UK singles chart. The song retained its hold with 38,620 downloads and 8.39 million streams.

David Guetta has returned to the UK singles top 10 after two years. His latest hit ‘2U’featuring Justin Bieber debuted on the chart high at No: 5. The EDP/pop track is to be featured on the French DJ and producer’s next album. ‘2U’ is Guetta’s 22nd UK top 10 hit of which 11 have been chart toppers in the country.

‘2U’ is produced by Guetta and Giorgio Tuinfort. The video features Victoria’s Secret models lip-synching to the vocals of Justin Bieber.

While half of the UK top 10 songs are non movers, Charlie Puth has seen his current single ‘Attention’ return to the top. This week the track moved a notch up to No: 10. A few weeks ago the song peaked at No: 9. ‘Attention’ is from Puth’s next album which has not been named as yet.

Ariana Grande who has become almost a household name after the recent tragic event in England has taken to social media to issue an emotional thank you to her fans as the 23 year old completed the European leg of her Dangerous Woman tour on 17th June in Turin, Italy.

Meanwhile Ariana Grande is to be made an honorary citizen of Manchester as the announcement was made by Manchester City Council leader Sir Richard Lee. Grande returned to play a benefit show after the May bombing which helped raise over £3 million.
