India were riding high at the ongoing South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championships 2017 at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium tables, yesterday.

India were leading the points tables at the Cadet (Boys and Girls) and Junior (Boys and Girls) events.

India with eight points and six points respectively occupy the first spot in the Cadet Boys and Girls Team events. The host country’s closest neighbour leads the Cadet Girls Team event with six points. Sri Lanka (5), Maldives (4) and Pakistan (3) are in the second, third and fourth places in the Cadet Girls Team event.

Indians are at the top in the Cadet Boys Team event with eight points closely followed by Sri Lanka (7), Bangladesh (6), Pakistan (5) and Maldives (3).

In the Junior Boys and Girls Team events it was India at the helm with eight and six points respectively. Sri Lanka was in the second place with seven points while Pakistan with six points occupy the third place followed by Bangladesh (5) and Maldives (4) in the fourth and fifth places in the Junior Boys Team event.

Junior Girls Team event is led by India with six points and Sri Lanka is in the second place with five points. Pakistan is in the third place with four points and Maldives is in the last spot with four points.

Sri Lanka beat Maldives 3-0 in the Junior Boys Team preliminary round while Junior Girls defeated Pakistan 3-0, Maldives 3-1 in the Junior Girls Team preliminary rounds.

Sri Lankan Cadet paddler Girls trounced Maldives 3-0 and Pakistan 3-0 while Cadet Boys defeated Pakistan 3-0 in the Boys Team preliminary round match.
