Renown SC regained the top spot in the Dialog Champions League Super Eight Round by defeating SL Navy SC 2-1 at the Kelaniya Football Complex yesterday.

Renown SC has completed six matches in the Super Eight Round winning five, losing one. They have only one match to play to complete the Super Eight Round.

Last week Colombo FC was in the lead. They have played five matches, winning four with one game ending in a draw.

Today Colombo FC will play their sixth match against Blue Star SC at the Kelaniya Football Complex at 3.30 pm.

A close tussle exists between Renown SC and Colombo FC for the championship title. If Colombo FC triumphs today they will occupy the top spot. There is only a single point’s difference between the two teams.

Colombo FC and Renown SC will clash on March 4 in the last game of the Super Eight Round. The winners of the Super Eight Round will be decided on the outcome of this game.

At the Renown – Navy game, Navy led 1-0 at the breather with J. Fernando netting in the first goal in the 34th minute. Renown SC scored their two goals in the second half with M. Rizkhan scoring the 50th minute and the other goal being netted by netted in by O.J. Michael in the 76th minute to win the game.
