Mercantile Netball semi-finalists found

Defending champions Mercantile, runners-up State Services, University and Kalutara District qualified for the semi-finals of the Inter-Association Netball Championships held at the Ruwanwella Rajasinghe grounds yesterday.

The competition is being organised by the Sri Lanka Netball Federation. This is their first contest for the year. Eighteen District Associations are taking part in the event.

Today at 9 am is the first semi-final between Mercantile and University and the game between State Services and Kalutara District.

In the quarter-finals played yesterday Mercantile beat Colombo District 44-7 and State Service beat Badulla District also by the same margin of 44-7.University beat Colombo Playground 27-21 and Kalutara District beat Kandy District 19-17.

The finals will be worked off at 3 pm today. The performances of players at the tournament will be taken into consideration to form a National Pool for the next Asian Netball Championships to be held in Singapore.
