MAGIS Cup Under-14 basketball tournament came to a successful completion with St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena emerging champions. Holy Family Convent, Bambalapitiya won the girls’ tournament. St. Benedict’s remained unbeaten throughout the competition winning six games in total. The efforts of Captain Naveen James in the semi-final saw St. Benedict’s qualifying for the finals while Maris Stella beat St. Joseph’s College, Darley Road in a thrilling contest to book their place in the final. The final turned out to be a close contest and Maris Stella were leading by one point with eight seconds on the clock. The Benedictines came up with a play to turn the tables at that stage and secure a tensed one point win. Captain James was named Most Valuable Player while Tharusha Rodrigo was named the Best Defensive Player.
