SriLankan Airlines retained the Travel Trade Sports Club overall Men’s and Women’s Team Championship Swimming titles, at the 31st Travel Trade Swimming Meet, concluded at the Thurstan College pool.

Over 150 swimmers from eighteen Member Firms participated in the meet, consisting 95 events under three categories, namely Novices, Championship and Veterans.

Sri Lankan Airlines accumulated 168 points (men 91 points + women 77 points) to emerge champs while Cinnamon City Hotels accumulated 136 points to take 2nd place (men 78 + women 58).

The Meet was conducted by the Officials from the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) and was sponsored by Luxe Asia.

The Managing Director from Luxe Asia, Chaminda Dias was the Chief Guest and he along with the Travel Trade Sports Club Officials, Suranjith de Fonseka, Adrian Jansz and Shan Perera gave away the awards.

Showers hamper TT cricket
Afternoon showers spoil the 38th Travel Trade Sports Club Men’s and Women’s Softball Cricket ‘Sixes’ 2015 at the Shalika Grounds, Narahenpita.

For the first time in its history one semi-final and the Final in the Men’s tournament was decided by the toss of a coin. The coin toss resembled a penalty shootout, five players from each team spinning the coin, decided on a best of three basis. The top half finalist was decided by enforcing the coin toss and Camelot Beach Negombo advanced to the Final, winning the toss 3/1.

The two hotels from little Rome, Camelot Beach and Jetwing Sea (former Sea Shells Hotel) faced the toss to decide the winner and runners – up. Jetwing Sea became the new Winner beating Camelot Beach, as they won the ‘toss’ Shoot-out 3/1.
Amaya Hills, Kandy retained the women’s tournament, beating their Sister Hotel, Amaya Lake, Dambulla in a repeat final of last year.

In the league stage, Amaya Hills and Amaya Lake each beat Waters Edge, Royal Palms, Kalutara and Cinnamon Red, before meeting each other in the Final.

Final: Amaya Lake batted first and scored 93 for 2 (5 overs). Amaya Hills replied with 97 for 1 (4.4 overs)
Special Awards: Best Bowler, Deelima Herath (Amaya Lake); Best Batter, Dinusha Dissanayake (Amaya Lake); Woman of the Final , Omali Pussella (Amaya Hills); Woman of the tournament: Harshani de Silva (Amaya Hills).
Debutants, Waters Edge finished 3rd beating Royal Palms and Cinnamon Red.

Final: Jetwing Sea, Negombo beat Camelot Beach, Negombo by a toss of a coin.
Special Awards: Best Batsman Ranitha Perera (Camelot Beach Hotel); Best Bowler: Dinesh Fernando (Camelot Beach) and Man of the Tournament: Sudesh Dalpathado (Jetwing Sea).
